About Ross S. Carponelli
Committed to the Defense
Ross S. Carponelli is a Deputy Public Defender and Attorney IV with the Mohave County Public Defender’s Office. Licensed in Arizona and Illinois, he has practiced law since 2005 and brings more than 20 years of litigation experience to his work in criminal defense.
Before relocating to Arizona in 2021, Ross practiced in Illinois, where his work included complex civil and business litigation. His experience in contested litigation, evidentiary disputes, witness examination, and trial preparation provided a foundation for his current criminal-defense practice.
In August 2024, Ross was promoted to Attorney IV, the highest attorney classification within Mohave County. He represents individuals facing serious criminal charges, including homicide and other high-level felony prosecutions. His courtroom work includes jury selection, opening statements, witness examination, expert testimony, evidentiary motions, constitutional litigation, plea negotiations, sentencing advocacy, and closing argument.
Ross approaches each case with the understanding that criminal charges can threaten a person’s liberty, reputation, family, and future. His work emphasizes careful preparation, meaningful client communication, close examination of the evidence, and the State’s obligation to prove every element of every charge beyond a reasonable doubt.
Beyond the courtroom, Ross contributes to professional education and attorney wellness. He serves on the State Bar of Arizona’s Member Assistance Committee and presents continuing legal education programs for the Arizona Public Defender Association and the State Bar of Arizona. His presentations address trial strategy, professional ethics, criminal-defense practice, attorney resilience, and effective litigation support.
