Second-Degree Murder Charge Dismissed Without Prejudice

Following months of defense preparation and shortly before the scheduled trial, the State dismissed the sole charge of second-degree murder without prejudice. No other charges remained pending after the dismissal.

 

 

Not Guilty Verdict; Mistrial on Remaining Counts

The client faced five serious felony charges, including four counts carrying potential consecutive life sentences. The jury returned a Not Guilty verdict on the charge of furnishing harmful material to a minor. On the four remaining counts, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict, reportedly dividing 8–4 in favor of acquittal. The court declared a mistrial on those counts.

 

 

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon — Not Guilty

The case arose after an individual was stabbed during a confrontation outside an RV parked overnight at Monolith Garden, a desert recreation area in the Kingman area. The State alleged that the defendant was responsible and charged him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a Class 2 felony. After hearing the evidence, an eight-person jury returned a verdict of Not Guilty.

 

 

Domestic-Violence Aggravated Assault Charges — Not Guilty

The State charged the defendant with two counts of aggravated assault designated as domestic violence. The allegations included strangulation and binding or restraining the alleged victim against the person’s will. After hearing the evidence, an eight-person jury returned Not Guilty verdicts on both charges.

 

 

Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon — Court Directed Judgment of Acquittal

The prosecution arose from a vehicle shooting in which eight rounds were fired into the side of a truck. After the State presented its evidence, the court granted the defense’s Rule 20 motion and entered a judgment of acquittal in favor of the defendant. All counts were dismissed with prejudice.

 

 

Theft and False Statement to Law Enforcement — Not Guilty

The State charged the defendant with theft and making a false statement to law enforcement. After hearing the evidence, the jury returned Not Guilty verdicts on both charges.
